On 25th May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into action.
The GDPR will replace the Data Protection Act and will introduce new requirements for organisations to adhere to. This will set a new standard for supporter consent and as such, will affect how charities can communicate with their lottery players.
It is of great importance that charities and fundraising organisations understand the implications of GDPR on their supporter data; and that we, as your External Lottery Manager, can facilitate your charities’ requirements when GDPR comes into effect.
Over the coming months, Sterling will update you with any and all information that you need in terms of GDPR. This will include information on your responsibilities as a charity as well as ours as your ELM, and the technical advances that we are making to be able to facilitate the capture of your data in accordance with GDPR.
